The Secretary of State for Biodiversity, Bérangère Abba, recently announced the forthcoming creation of a hunting geolocation application to combat hunting accidents, such as the one that occurred on February 19.

A similar device has already been tested in Isère for two years now, reports Actu Grenoble.

An application deemed insufficient

It is based on two applications, one allowing hunters to declare the area of the hunt and the other allowing walkers to be notified.

A system that seems to be gradually coming into practice since 30% of hunters already use it according to Danielle Chenavier, president of the Departmental Federation of Isère hunters.

But this solution remains insufficient for many hikers and nature conservationists, reports

Actu Grenoble

.

Only hunts are counted, not individual or private hunts.

According to Éric Posak, of the League for the Protection of Birds, it is above all necessary to review the training of hunters and to question the minimum age authorized, today set at 15 years for accompanied hunting and 16 years for the permit.
