Regarding the Tokai No. 2 Nuclear Power Station in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan Atomic Power Company announced that it will change the completion time of the construction required for restarting and postpone it from the end of this year to September next year.

The only nuclear power plant in the Tokyo metropolitan area, the Tokai No. 2 nuclear power plant in Tokai-mura, Ibaraki Prefecture, passed the examination that is a prerequisite for restarting four years ago, and Japan Atomic Power Company is currently working on countermeasures against disasters such as tsunamis and serious accidents. We are.

Regarding the completion time of the construction, Japan Atomic Power Company had previously said that it was expected to be in December, but announced on the 28th that it will be postponed to September next year.

In addition, it is said that construction will be completed at the same time for facilities necessary for anti-terrorism measures that are required to be installed.

Regarding the reason for the postponement, Japan Atomic Power Company shared the "vent with filter", a device that releases the internal gas when the pressure in the containment vessel covering the reactor increases, between the main facility and the anti-terrorism facility, as well as in the core. The contents of the construction are being reviewed, such as installing an original facility to cool the generated heat with air.

Due to the postponement of the completion of the construction, the restart will be at least after September next year, but the evacuation plan in the event of an accident has not been finalized in many municipalities, and the local consent has not been obtained. The situation remains uncertain at the specific time.

Japan Atomic Power Company states, "We will proceed with countermeasure construction with safety first and will do our best to explain to the local people."
