[Explanation] Framed glasses, capable short hair, and the case tracking work with colleagues is the retired Chief Superintendent of the Hong Kong Police Force Wu Shufen.

The fifth wave of the epidemic in Hong Kong continues to be severe, with a sharp increase in the number of confirmed cases and close contacts.

A few days ago, the SAR government set up a case tracking office, which successfully cut off multiple chains of community transmission and prevented the spread of the virus.

And Wu Shufen is the commander of the Mong Kok Case Tracking Office.

It is important to break the transmission chain of close contacts as soon as possible.

We can find all the close contacts within two or three days, and then send them to quarantine camps soon, where outbreaks of confirmed cases (cases) have been reported one after another.

This means that if we had not found these close contacts so early to quarantine, (the virus) would have spread in the community.

[Explanation] The case tracking workflow is cumbersome and difficult. Wu Shufen admitted that some close contacts are unwilling to cooperate, deliberately conceal, and do not answer the phone. and other obstacles.

In order to trace the complete chain of transmission, colleagues in the tracking office often need to work tirelessly and do their best.

One of the difficulties is that because it covers most of the close contacts in all levels of society, you will find that many people are uncooperative, many people submit false information, and some people procrastinate. How can we make our final To get the truth of the incident, connect the whole incident (the chain of transmission), and from whom to infect whom, there have been many twists and turns, but I see that everyone (upholding) the spirit of perseverance is enough, don't be afraid of difficulties.

Someone was in charge of making a phone call to check if the taxi company had contacted the passenger.

In addition, there are also people who write letters or chat with the company's personnel department to find out how to get the information.

They will call to find someone again, and they will also try to wait for someone at the door of the company. We will do it.

[Explanation] Previously in charge of the Personnel Service and Staff Relations Division of the Hong Kong Police Force, Wu Shufen, who retired, has always been obliged to participate in the anti-epidemic work.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic in Hong Kong, Wu Shufen has participated in many works including setting up isolation camps, contacting home quarantiners wearing bracelets, and setting up a case tracking office in Kai Tak.

Since the fifth wave of the epidemic, she has used her previous experience to devote herself to the establishment of the Mong Kok Tracking Office, assisting in coordinating the tracking of disciplined service personnel.

Talking about the original intention of participating in the volunteer work, Wu Shufen recalled that during the "revision storm" in 2019, some police officers' children were maliciously harassed, so she decided to set up a volunteer team to escort the police officers' children to and from school.

I issued a mobile phone message notification, just like recruiting some like-minded colleagues, you can use your time to accompany these children to and from school.

So a large group of people came to sign up, and after signing up, the (volunteer) work started.

I think after the first three weeks of this job, some of our colleagues even took out the car to take the students to school, and then waited for them to pick them up after school. They contributed money, effort, and time.

At that time, I was very moved, and felt that although many of our colleagues had retired, they all responded immediately.

So this started my first (serving) role as a volunteer convener.

[Explanation] At the moment of the epidemic, many retired police officers like Wu Shufen have gone out of their homes and taken up volunteer positions to support the front-line fight against the epidemic.

From the police half-life, from the chief superintendent to the current volunteer convener, Wu Shufen said that between the passage of time and the change of identities, what remains unchanged is the original intention to protect Hong Kong society and citizens.

What has changed is that our work may not be as systematic as before. After you become a volunteer, you need to pay for a piece of paper and a pen.

In fact, what has not changed is our heart. I think the police have one thing that I feel very proud of: we have a heart to serve the public and a heart to maintain social stability. This heart has not changed.

Why are these retired colleagues willing to come out and do volunteer work?

In fact, it is because of this heart.
