Japan Post is shifting the sorting work of mail that was done at midnight to the daytime time zone by the end of February, and as a result, the regular mail service that arrives the day after the mailing will be eliminated in principle.

Japan Post will shift the sorting work for ordinary mail such as postcards and letters from midnight to early morning at post offices nationwide by the end of February, in order during the daytime.

As a result, even if you send it to the same prefecture or neighboring prefectures that used to arrive the day after the throw, in principle, the service that arrives the day after the throw will disappear.

According to the company, the delivery time will be 3 days longer than before due to the cancellation of sorting work at midnight and the suspension of delivery on Saturday from October last year.

On the other hand, express delivery, registered mail, and courier services such as Yu-Pack are the same as before, and there is no impact.

Japan Post intends to solve labor shortages and reduce costs through a series of reforms in the division and delivery operations, and to increase the number of employees in the courier department, which will increase in handling due to the expansion of the use of online shopping.

Takashi Saito, General Manager of the Postal and Logistics Business Planning Department, said, "This review is necessary to provide stable postal services and meet home delivery demand in the future, and I would like to ask for your understanding."
