As Russian forces began bombing Ukraine, Sean Penn arrived with his cameras to film the conflict.

A presence confirmed by the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who specifies that the actor is in Kiev to "tell the world the truth about the Russian invasion of our country".

The filmmaker has been working on this project for several months and had already come to the country last November.

“Sean Penn is one of those who support Ukraine.

Our country is grateful to him for showing such courage and honesty,” the presidential statement continued.

Sean Penn's interest in the Ukrainian cause has been doubly welcomed by the presidency by opposing him to the "lack of courage, in particular of certain Western politicians" in the face of "the hateful invasion of Russia".
