Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Saito is also considering increasing the insurance premiums for the "automobile liability insurance" paid by automobile users to finance the business to support accident victims with severe disabilities requiring long-term care. Based on what has been done, he showed the idea of giving a polite explanation to gain the understanding of the user.

It is estimated that the special account reserve, which is the main source of financial resources, will be exhausted in the next decade or so for the national business to support victims who have been involved in traffic accidents and have severe disabilities requiring long-term care.

For this reason, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has decided to revise the compulsory automobile liability insurance system so that the portion of the insurance premium called "levy" will be used for financial resources such as victim support projects. It was decided by the Cabinet.

Since the government is considering increasing the levy from the next fiscal year onward, there are concerns that the victims of the accident and the family members who care for them may be repelled by the users. increase.

Regarding this, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Saito said at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, "Victim support is a mechanism of mutual assistance in a car society where anyone can be a victim. I would like to try to give a polite explanation. "

The government intends to submit a bill to amend the law to the current ordinary session of the Diet and aim to pass it.
