The verdict against daycare teacher Sandra M. for the murder of a three-year-old girl and for the abuse of two cases of wards is final.

The Mönchengladbach District Court rightly sentenced M. to life imprisonment at the beginning of March 2021 and determined the particular gravity of the guilt, according to a decision by the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) published on Friday.

The revision of the 26-year-old woman was "obviously unfounded".

M. worked between 2017 and 2020 as a teacher in various day care centers in the Lower Rhine region.

At the end of April 2020, in an unobserved moment in a daycare center in Viersen, she squeezed little Greta's chest for so long and so hard that the girl died in a clinic a few days later.

Since the death of the completely healthy child seemed suspicious to the doctors, they called the police.

During the investigation, it quickly became apparent that similar incidents had occurred in three other daycare centers.

But no one there suspected anything because the boys and girls could be helped in time.

In the process, M. had protested her innocence to the end, her defense attorney had demanded an acquittal.

According to the Federal Court of Justice decision, however, the Mönchengladbach District Court "set out without objection" that it was convinced that the woman was the perpetrator and that she had the murder characteristics of malice and base motives.
