Adventure Line Productions, which produces Fort Boyard for France 2, announced in a press release that the tigers will no longer be present on the show this summer.

Until then, the tigers had to stay until retirement age and not be replaced.

They finally leave the program ten years early.

They were to celebrate their retirement in 2032. The Fort Boyard tigers bow out this year.

From this summer, the felines will no longer guard the treasure of the fort in the France 2 entertainment show. Adventure Line Productions (ALP), the production company behind the show, took this decision to respond to a societal movement on the protection of large animals and especially felines.

In a press release published Thursday, ALP assured to be concerned and attentive to the well-being of the tigers and other animals present on the fort.

A recently passed bill against animal exploitation

For the past few seasons, several animal protection associations have denounced the exploitation of tigers in the show.

Journalist Hugo Clément had also revived the debate by refusing to participate in the show as long as tigers were used.

If Fort Boyard was not yet required by law to part with its tigers, this decision comes a few months after Parliament adopted a new bill aimed at combating animal abuse.

This bill also provides for the gradual banning of wild animals in circuses.

What will become of Kashemir and Tosca, the tigers of Fort Boyard?

Kashemir and Tosca, the two tigers who have remained on the show until now, will now remain in the animal reserve of their owner and breeder.

ALP and France Télévisions have also announced that they are committed to paying a sum to this breeder.

It will allow the two felines of Fort Boyard to benefit from all the necessary care until the end of their lives.

The objective of Adventure Line Productions and France Télévisions is that the two felines live the most peaceful and comfortable retirement possible.
