Nature for the classroom.

This is what the dozen pupils of the school in the forest of Marsac, in Charente, saw.

Every day, well covered, children aged 2 and a half to 5 and a half go with their educators for walks through fields and in the forest, to discover the birds or plants that surround them.

"We start from our environment, from the concrete, from what we experience" to teach the children, explains Marie-Line Bonneau, environmental educator and co-director of the school, who is out of contract.

To his knowledge, they were the first in France to have been "a real forest school, to be outside every day".

“We take our time, we take the time to learn how to do things on our own,” she says again.

"From the age of 3, all we want is to be recognized as a person," adds Majid El Ayouni, educator and co-director of the school.

“The children, they are really in demand to be autonomous, to be independent.

And what better than wide open spaces to become one?
