From June 1, the Saint-Louis and Blandan districts, in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon, will switch to a paid zone, reports BFM Lyon.

2,600 new paid parking spaces will be introduced in these streets.

The EELV town hall of Lyon justified this decision to improve the rotation of vehicles in parking spaces, avoid long parking periods and thus free up public space.

It indicates that a paying space is used by eight vehicles per day on average, while a free space is used by two vehicles.

The town hall also hopes to promote soft mobility.

This measure had already been taken in November 2021, on boulevard de la Croix-Rousse, boulevard des Canuts and rue des Chartreux.

The inhabitants of these streets had benefited from a preferential rate.

New areas will be subject to paid parking in the coming months, until the end of the mandate.
