Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) announced on Wednesday the validation of the cable car project between Créteil and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (Val-de-Marne).

The device, called Cable 1 (C1), had already been declared of public utility in 2019, recalled in a press release the transport union.

The latter was delighted with the forthcoming launch of the work.

18 minutes for a 4.5 km journey

The urban cable car, at a total cost of 132 million euros without counting the cabins, should run in 2025. Passengers will take 18 minutes to cover the entire line serving five stations: Pointe du Lac in Créteil, Temps Durables and Emile Combes in Limeil-Brévannes, Emile Zola in Valenton and Bois Matar in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.

Built on one level, they will be accessible to people with reduced mobility.

To take the 4.5 km of the line, the fare will be the same as for the metro, bus or tram.

No less than 1,600 passengers per hour will be able to travel in each direction at peak times in cable car cabins that can accommodate 10 users.
