Canada authorizes the use of a plant-based vaccine for “Corona”

Canada has become the first country to allow the use of the "Medicago" vaccine against Covid-19, which is based on plants, and the vaccine, consisting of two doses, can be given to adults between the ages of 18 and 64 years.

According to the Associated Press.

The decision was based on a study conducted on 24,000 adults, and it was found that the vaccine was 71% effective in preventing Covid-19, although that was before the appearance of the Omicron mutant, and the side effects were mild, including fever and fatigue.

Medicago uses plants as living factories to grow virus-like particles that mimic the spiky protein that coats the virus. The particles are removed from the plants' leaves and purified.

Another ingredient added to the injection is an immune-boosting chemical called an adjuvant.

Manufactured by British partner GlaxoSmithKline.
