6 ways to start your day actively without drinking coffee

Many people suffer from feeling sleepy as soon as they wake up, which makes them resort to drinking coffee, which provides them with energy.

On the other hand, coffee negatively affects some, as registered dietitian and spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Nancy Z.

Farrell told CNN, "Many people are stressed these days, and sometimes want to feel energized but not stressed or tired. For some people, coffee can cause an upset stomach or diarrhea in addition to that Coffee is not suitable for everyone. Some people with heart problems may not drink coffee, as this negatively affects heart rate or blood pressure.

Maintaining good sleep is still the best way to ensure you rest well at night and have more energy during the day, but if you want to get more energy without drinking coffee, here are six tips according to health, fitness and weight loss coach for women, Stephanie Mansour. In an interview with CNN.

1. Do a 5-minute yoga routine

Doing a short yoga session in the morning can significantly improve energy levels.

A morning yoga session improves circulation, relieves stiffness and soreness, and reboots the brain by "creating endorphins from your yoga movements".

2. Going outdoors

Mansour believes that going outdoors is more effective in revitalizing the body than drinking coffee, describing it as "more effective and longer lasting than a cup of coffee."

3. Play music

According to a 2020 study, music helps promote feelings of energization and improve mood especially before exercise, helps reduce perceptions of pain and fatigue during exercise, and improves performance and endurance.

4. Drink water

After waking up, the body may lose water, which is "important for many brain and body functions," said Farrell Allen. When your organs — such as the kidneys — have to function in an insufficiently humid environment, there is a greater energy cost, according to a review 2011 about water, hydration and health.

5. Aromatherapy experience

Aromatherapy — the use of aromatic plant extracts and essential oils for therapeutic inhalations, massages or baths — can be a stimulant for some people, Farrell Allen said.

Also, just changing your soap can make you feel energized.

Bathing in a citrus-based body wash can make you feel invigorated.

6. Snacks

A meal made with protein, healthy fats, and sources of complex carbohydrates rich in fiber release sugar into the blood at a slower rate, supporting longer-lasting energy.

This type of breakfast is what Pharrell Allen suggests to her patients looking for a morning energy boost.

"Usually, mine includes low-fat cottage cheese or yogurt, topped with berries, granola and walnuts,"

Pharrell Allen's other protein and fiber-rich ideas include:

• Avocados on whole wheat toast (with an egg if desired), sprinkled with everything baking seasoning

• Cinnamon brown rice dessert with walnuts, which can be made in advance and reheated quickly

• Breakfast dishes that can be sweet and saturated by adding ground cinnamon, apples or berries, pecans or walnuts.

Or add tomatoes, olives, cucumbers and feta;

Or a bowl with eggs, avocado and spinach.
