At the start of summer 2021,

20 Minutes

was invited to a neighbors' party, in the courtyard of a magnificent Haussmann building in the heart of Paris.

Large tables are set.

Mixed salads, pies… Just help yourself.

Except that we are not here to snack but to attend the filming of a scene from

Week-end Family

.

This series, the first French creation of Disney+, arrives this Wednesday on the platform.

Co-written by Baptiste Filleul, Géraldine de Margerie and Nour Ben Salem and co-directed by former Robin Hood Pierre-François Martin-Laval (Pef) and Sophie Reine, it follows the tribulations of a “super blended” family.

Headlining: Eric Judor.

"You're lucky she never says hello!"

»

On the set, the actor is as we imagine him.

He draws valve after valve and goes on antics to relax extras and game partners. “Hello!

», Launches the actress Daphnée Côté-Hallé, a wide smile on her face.

The comedian plays her teasingly: “You're lucky, she never says hello!

“It's true that he is strong, Eric Judor!

“, exclaim in chorus the three young actresses who camp his daughters.

Here is the merry troupe of this refreshing and sparkling family comedy.

Eric Judor plays Fred, an osteopathic physiotherapist who finds his three somewhat intrusive exes every weekend when they drop off his three daughters, Clara, 15 (Liona Bordonaro, who notably camped Max Boublil's daughter in 2018 in the series

Mike

), Victoire, 12 (Midie Dreyfus, recently seen as a child Maud in

I promise you

), and Romy, 9 (Roxane Barazzuol, a revelation), each from a different mother.

“Fred has a lot in common with me!

Except I don't have three exes.

I have a lot less… more… well, not exactly three anyway!, laughs Eric Judor between two takes.

He has quite a few children to take care of, and I, in real life, have five.

The first scenarios that I read around a father who tries to struggle as he can with a teenager, a preteen and a very young girl, that spoke to me.

He describes his character as "a good guy, a nice guy who tries to do his best but is overwhelmed.

In short, a man of today, I have the impression, finally, me in life.

“Learning to be a mother-in-law while being in love”

When the father falls in love with Emmanuelle (Daphnée Côté-Hallé), a 29-year-old Quebecer who is finishing her doctorate in child psychology in Paris, the situation becomes complicated.

The young woman will have to find her place in the middle of this turbulent tribe.

“She must learn to be a mother-in-law while being in love in a new city”, sums up Daphnée Côté-Hallé.

The Canadian also considers herself “to be super close” to her character: “Emmanuelle is very humorous and light-hearted.

She's optimistic, that's really what I have in common with her.

What's funny is that I've always said that if I hadn't been an actress, I would have become a psychologist.

There is something that fascinates me in psychology.

“We really feel like we are a family”

When you visit the apartment of Fred, Daphne and the girls, you have the impression of breaking into a family's home as it has been designed down to the smallest detail.

From dad's comic book collection to the magnets on the fridge and the souvenir photos scattered here and there, everything seems authentic.

“We met here the day before the first day of filming and it connected us immediately.

With Eric, we laughed, it happened super naturally.

With the girls, we immediately became close, they opened up to us.

It's been two and a half months that we play together every day, we develop a lot of links.

The children have become my little sisters and Eric a friend,” says Daphnée Côté-Hallé.

"We really feel like we're a family," comments Eric Judor.

Alchemy can't be made,

especially with children.

They don't invent a complicity, either they accept you or they throw you away.

Liona Bordonaro, who plays Fred's eldest daughter, initially passed the casting "just for fun".

During the tests, she was seduced by the "universe" presented by Pef and Sophie.

"I immediately understood that it would be endearing and light," she says.

When I learned that Eric Judor was going to play our father, I said to myself: "I really want to go!"

".

“I cry with laughter three times a week”

“I wanted too much to have sisters and, in the scenario… I had sisters!

I liked history and family and then Disney!

It's too much to dream of thinking that you're going to play in a Disney series, ”rejoices Midie Dreyfus, the youngest.

“Disney, that's cool and the scenario, it's too funny!

“, supports Roxane Barrazzuol, the youngest who describes her character as” a child who loves guinea pigs and who has absurd ideas.

“Midie Dreyfus, she, “plays the eccentric and the dreamer” while Liona Bordonaro is “the teenager who falls into all the traps of adolescence, but, in truth, is super sensitive.

»

“The meeting with Eric and Daphne and then the girls, it was obvious.

In real life, the three of us are friends, ”says Midie Dreyfus, hugging her two companions.

Between each take, the mood is joyful: we chat, we play and the laughter breaks out.

“But during the scenes, we are very serious, we are concentrated and everything”, recalls Roxane Barazzuol.

However, this is not always an easy task: “I cry with laughter three times a week on this film set!

It's hard at times to concentrate.

But I've never had so much fun on set.

We have really become a family, I have the impression, ”says Daphnée Côté-Hallé.

The family spirit and good humor shine through on screen.

Neighbors or not, it's time to celebrate.
