Average temperature in southern China in February is the lowest since 2009

China News Agency, Beijing, February 23 (Reporter Chen Su) Since February, there has been continuous widespread low temperature, rainy and snowy weather in southern China.

The reporter learned from the China Meteorological Administration on the 23rd that according to statistics, since February, the average temperature in the southern region has hit the lowest level since 2009.

The monitoring of the Central Meteorological Observatory shows that from February 1 to 22, the temperature in most of Jiangnan, South China, and southeastern parts of Southwest China was 2-4°C lower than the same period of the previous year, among which, the temperature in southeastern Hunan, most of Guangxi, and southeastern Guizhou was 4-4°C lower than normal. 6°C.

The average temperature in the southern region is about 6.4°C, the lowest since 2009.

In terms of precipitation, from February 1 to 22, the average precipitation in the southern region was about 84.9 mm, and the average precipitation in the eastern and southern parts of Jiangnan, most of southern China, and the central and southern parts of Southwest China was 1 to 2 times more than the same period of the previous year. Some areas in the central part of the southwest region are 3 to 4 times more; the sunshine is 50 to 80% less than the same period of the normal year, among which Jiangxi, eastern Hunan, and Guangxi are 80% to 1 times less.

Affected by a strong cold air, since the 18th, low-temperature and rainy weather has enveloped Guangdong. There have been freezing rain and sleet in the high-altitude mountainous areas of northern Guangdong, icy roads in the alpine mountainous areas, and freezing rain and rain pine in some mountainous areas. The temperature in the northern part of the Pearl River Delta and northern Guangdong is between 2°C and 5°C, and the high-altitude mountainous areas in northern Guangdong are between -3°C and 0°C.

This winter, the people of Guangdong have also experienced the feeling of "shivering".

Liang Qiaoqian, chief forecaster of the Guangdong Meteorological Observatory, said that the main cause of this round of low temperature, rain and snow is that while the strong cold air from the north invades Guangdong, there is a warm and humid airflow from the southeast in the low latitudes of the south. and converge in Guangdong, forming abundant precipitation and dynamic uplift conditions, so long-term, continuous and stable precipitation appeared.

At the same time, as the cold air in the upper layer sinks, the cooling rate in the lower atmosphere increases. Therefore, while the continuous precipitation, the temperature level is also maintained at a lower level.

According to the meteorological department, the long-term wet and cold weather in the south is about to stop.

From the 23rd, most of the rainy and snowy weather in the south will end. From the 24th, the temperature in the southern region will gradually rise, and the temperature rise in some areas will be above 10 ℃.

By the end of February, temperatures are expected to rise to annual average or high.

For example, in Guangzhou and Fuzhou, the temperature will rise all the way in the next few days, and the highest temperature will exceed 20℃ by the end of this week.
