An Apple Store hostage in Amsterdam has demanded 200 million euros in cryptocurrency

The Dutch authorities announced that the suspect for holding a man hostage in the "Apple Store" in Amsterdam is a 27-year-old resident of the city and has demanded a ransom of 200 million euros in digital currencies.

The police said in a statement today, Wednesday, that after holding a man hostage at gunpoint for several hours on Tuesday evening and threatening to blow himself up, the suspect was brought under control and taken to hospital due to his "serious injuries" and is still under observation.

The police, who found out that the man was wearing an explosive device he did not detonate, said that "all options are being considered" related to the motives for his action, noting that the operation ended when the hostage-taker asked for water from the law enforcement forces.

And she added: "When the hostage came out of the building, apparently to get water, he ran." He was quickly followed by the detainee, who was immediately hit by a mechanism for the security forces, stressing that the hostage and four people who hid in a closet without the suspect's knowledge, are safe and in good health.
