She will not make a hasty decision following the tragedy which cost the life of a 25-year-old hiker, accidentally killed on Saturday in Cantal by a 17-year-old hunter, but the Minister for Ecological Transition calls for reflection on the practices .

Barbara Pompili, traveling to Toulouse and then to the Lot, reacted this Tuesday morning on the antenna of France Bleu Occitanie to the debate that this terrible accident brought back to life.

Asked about the possibility of banning hunting for minors, the minister replied that she was “so that what happened makes us think about it collectively”.

"We have to think about the weight we put on minors," she added.

Days without hunting on a case-by-case basis

Regarding "the totally legitimate question" of days without hunting, Barbara Pompili is on the same line of consultation.

"I think it's time for everyone to get around the table to think about days without hunting, which must be done territory by territory," she said.

The young hunter, alleged perpetrator of the fatal shooting, must be brought before a magistrate on Tuesday for an indictment for "manslaughter".
