Kanagawa Prefecture announced that it was the first case in the prefecture to be infected with a virus of the strain called "BA.2", which is a type of Omicron strain and has been pointed out to have even higher infectivity.

According to Kanagawa Prefecture, by the 9th of this month, men in their 20s, men in their 50s, and men in their teens are all types of Omicron strains, and it has been pointed out that their infectivity is even higher. It means that it was confirmed that the strain called "2" was infected with the virus.

The three are cohabiting families, all of whom were found to be positive in January and are mild or asymptomatic and have already completed their medical treatment period.

Of these, the man in his twenties, who seems to have been infected earliest, had never stayed abroad immediately before and had no contact with positive individuals, so the prefecture considers it to be a community-acquired infection.

The Prefectural Medical Crisis Countermeasures Headquarters Office said, "BA.2 is a variant of the Omicron strain, and although this does not change the countermeasures, it has been pointed out that the infection speed is fast, and the number of patients will decrease slowly in the future. On the contrary, I am concerned that if it increases, it will affect the medical care provision system. "
