Presenting itself as a circus of clowns, the Franco-Belgian circus has obtained authorization to settle in the town of Villelaure (Vaucluse).

Residents were however able to discover after the fact the presence of a menagerie housing in particular big cats and monkeys, reports France Bleu Vaucluse.

"I have banned access to the town of all circuses that bring African or exotic animals," assured Mayor Jean-Louis Robert.

He fears that those in charge of the establishment will camp on their positions.

A request to leave the premises

The elected official has warned the gendarmerie and wants them to evacuate the Circassians from the town.

The latter, who put up posters showing big cats after being allowed to settle, highlighted the right to keep animals in cages.

This situation does not surprise the association Paris Animals Zoopolis (PAZ).

Like many others, this circus does not hesitate to put "the mayors up against the wall" to then "impose their animals", lamented the organization.
