There were 79 applications from all over the country for the first recruitment of "decarbonization-preceding areas" where the national government selects local governments that are enthusiastic about decarbonization.

It is expected that about 20 to 30 cases will be selected as the first step around spring.

The national government has a policy of selecting more than 100 local governments nationwide that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions associated with electricity consumption to virtually zero by fiscal 2030 as "decarbonized leading areas" and allocating the budget preferentially.

The first application for selection was closed on the 21st, and there were 79 applications from all over the country.

There are also applications from multiple local governments, and the number of local governments is 102.

After reviewing documents that include plans for achieving decarbonization and effects on the local economy and living, it is expected that about 20 to 30 cases will be selected as the first step around spring.

The national government will continue to recruit about twice a year, and hopes to intensify the decarbonization movement in the wake of efforts in the preceding regions.
