China News Agency, Beijing, February 21 (Reporter Chen Su) Since late January, many parts of southern China have been caught in continuous wet and cold weather.

According to the forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory, the wet and cold weather in the south will continue in the next few days. The average temperature in many places in the south is more than 5 degrees Celsius lower than the same period in history, and some areas are more than 7 degrees Celsius lower.

Due to the continuous wet and cold weather, the recent southern weather has been called the "high-end version" of the wet and cold weather by the media.

Why is the South falling into continuous wet and cold?

The rainy season has passed, when will the south get warmer?

In the past month, the southern region has experienced many rounds of cold air invasion, and continued to be cold and wet after the Spring Festival in the Year of the Tiger.

On the 19th, precipitation was concentrated in southern China, with heavy to heavy rains in southern Fujian, Guangdong, eastern and southern Guangxi, and heavy rains in Yunfu and Maoming in Guangdong, Wuzhou and Yulin in Guangxi.

Affected by the low temperature, places such as Xingzitan in Lianzhou City, Qingyuan City, Nanfeng Ao and Xinba Village in Sanshui Township in Guangdong also ushered in snowfall.

On the 20th, the temperature in all parts of Guangdong was less than 10 ℃. Due to the cold weather, Guangdong once became "frozen" in Guangzhou.

The meteorological department predicts that a new round of low temperature and rainy weather in the south will strike again.

From 08:00 on the 21st to 20:00 on the 24th, the daily average temperature in Guizhou, western and southern Sichuan, southern Hunan, central and southern Jiangxi, eastern Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan and Taiwan Island was 5 °C lower than the same period in history. Among them, eastern Yunnan, southern Guizhou, southern Hunan, southern Jiangxi, most of Guangxi, and central and western Guangdong are more than 7°C lower, and the lowest temperature line of 0°C will be pressed to southern Guizhou, southern Hunan, northern Jiangxi and southern Zhejiang. In the area, the 4°C line will be pressed to the area from central Guangxi to central Guangdong.

Among them, the temperature in Guangzhou will only be in single digits, between 4°C and 6°C.

According to statistics, from January 20 to February 10, the average precipitation in the southern region hit a new high for the same period since 1961, and the number of precipitation days was the most in the same period since 1961. At the same time, the temperature in most of the south was 2°C to 4°C lower.

Since the 16th, the south has experienced multiple rounds of precipitation and cold air.

This year, the south has encountered rainy and snowy weather with long standby time. Why has the south continued to be wet and cold this year?

Liu Yunyun, a senior engineer at the research level of the Climate Prediction Office of the National Climate Center, said that since late January, the geopotential height field in Asia has shown a distribution characteristic of "high in the north and low in the south". The frequent southward movement of cold air affects China, resulting in low temperatures in a large area in southern China.

At the same time, the plateau height field in the low latitude region is obviously low, the southern branch trough is active, and the southwest warm and humid water vapor from the Bay of Bengal and the South China Sea is obviously strong, and it frequently intersects with the active cold air at high latitude in southern China, resulting in the southwest, Jiangnan, The precipitation in most parts of South China is significantly higher.

On the 20th and 21st, the Central Meteorological Observatory issued a low-temperature blue warning continuously.

Meteorological experts said that for most of southern China, the low temperature process in the next few days will be extremely extreme, and some stations will even experience the coldest February day in the 21st century.

In addition, places such as Guangdong and eastern Guangxi, which have been hit by heavy rainfall, are still the rainfall centers. For many of the above-mentioned places, the cumulative precipitation in this round of process will exceed the local average precipitation in February all year round. It is not ruled out that the local possibility There is extreme precipitation.

The public needs to keep warm to prevent the adverse effects of rain and snow on travel and traffic. Guangdong also needs to strengthen the prevention of secondary disasters that may be caused by local heavy rainfall.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, on the 22nd, the center of rainfall will gradually move eastward, with stronger rains in the coastal areas of Fujian and eastern Guangdong, with light to moderate rainfall in most parts of southern China, Hainan Island, Taiwan Island, southern Yunnan, and southern Jiangnan. Rain, among which, there are heavy rains in parts of eastern Fujian, eastern Guangdong and other places.

On the 23rd, the large-scale rainfall process in the south will tend to end, but there are still light to moderate rains in parts of Fujian, eastern Guangdong, Taiwan Island and other places.

As the rains move eastward and weaken, starting from the 23rd, the low temperature weather in the south will be relieved and the temperature will rise rapidly.

In the provincial capital cities, such as Guangzhou and Fuzhou, the highest temperature today and tomorrow will be only single digits, and the temperature will rise significantly from the day after tomorrow, and it is expected to be close to 20℃ on the 25th.

Experts reminded that there is a big difference between cold and warm in the south, and the public needs to increase or decrease clothing in time to prevent colds.
