Clément Chappet, deputy departmental secretary of the Les Républicains (LR) party in Isère, said he was attacked on the Saint-Bruno market in Grenoble by an activist from La France Insoumise (LFI).
The facts would have taken place this Sunday, February 20, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.
A video broadcast on the networks
The candidate for the next legislative elections posted a video on social networks showing part of the altercation.
In the footage, a man is seen pushing him around and trying to punch him.
According to Clément Chappet, the latter was distributing leaflets for the meeting of Manon Aubry and Manuel Bompard (LFI), which will take place in Grenoble on Tuesday February 22.
"It's the first time I've been beaten up in a market", regretted the person concerned on Twitter, indicating that he had filed a complaint.
This is the first time I've been beaten up in a market.
Funny conception of the democracy of France Insoumise, the same people who give lessons in tolerance and living together do not accept to hear ideas other than their own.
Complaint filed!

Racist remarks at the origin of the altercation?
For his part, one of the leaders of LFI in Isère, Amin Ben Ali, indicated that it was a simple stampede that occurred following racist remarks made by LR activists while ensuring that an investigation internal was going to be conducted.
Total support for @clementchappet victim of intolerable acts and violence on the part of militants of France Insoumise.
These acts have absolutely no place in an election campaign.
