While a return of

Futurama

was announced earlier this week, the cast (in original version) of the cult animated series signed Matt Groening is demanding a raise.

For John DiMaggio, who lent his voice to the earthy robot Bender throughout the 140 episodes of the program, there is no question of returning if the pay does not follow.

"I've been thinking about everything that's happened over the past few months and just to be clear, I don't think I'm the only one who deserves to be paid more.

I think the whole cast does,” he wrote in a lengthy Twitter post.

A matter of respect

“Bender is part of my soul and none of this is meant to show me disrespect to the fans or the

Futurama

family .

It's about respecting me.

And honestly, I'm tired of an industry that's just chasing profits and taking advantage of artists' time and talent.

I wish I could give you all the details so that you understand, but that's not my role.

Thank you all again for your love.

I still hope for the best to come,” continued John DiMaggio.

While the arrival of a new season of

Futurama

has been officially announced by 20th Television Animation and Disney + for 2023, the actor is potentially in a strong position to achieve his ends.

Unfortunately, according to the NME, Billy West, who plays Fry, and Katey Sagal, who lends her voice to the character of Leela, have already accepted the offer from the studios.
