Valentine's Day fell on a Monday this year, the most unfavorable day imaginable for a relaxed celebration of love for one's partner.

And in America of all places, the country of origin of the commercial transfiguration of February 14, more specifically in New York, there are at least two women who are likely to have given even less to the day than the rest of the world.

Fashion Week was also in town on Valentine's Day.

After years of digital shows, fashion people have once again taken the high heels out of the closet.

Fashion is often accused of keeping women down, forcing them into unemancipated roles, to the great advantage of the opposite sex.

In New York this week, we saw the opposite of how fashion can be used for self-promotion purposes, even for women who aren't even in the industry.

Example number 1: 9 pm, Valentine's Day, the actress Julia Fox opens the show of the young fashion designer LaQuan Smith as a model.

She is wearing a dress that should clear up all the questions from the past 36 hours.

Heartbroken after Kanye West, who was probably still something of her partner at the start of the weekend and is now her ex, publicly mourned the loss of his wife Kim Kardashian on Instagram?

Rather not.

Her comment on the appearance of the Lady Diana type in a revenge dress on Instagram: "I've always wondered what it would be like to walk down a catwalk."

She doesn't chase after anyone anymore

Example number 2: The Sunday before Valentine's Day, Huma Abedin

is back

.

She is also not native to fashion, first known as Hillary Clinton's confidant.

In the noughties, the first photos of her appeared, hurrying down runways behind her boss in similarly unadorned beige pantsuits with stacks of files and heavy shoulder bags.

She remained at Clinton's side as an advisor – and at least at that of her husband Anthony Weiner, who was also active in politics at the time, until Weiner, who was already constantly criticized for sex messages, sent out one explicit photo too many into the world.

In 2016, Abedin separated from her son's father.

Her memoirs came out three months ago in English ("Both/And: A Life in Many Worlds") and Abedin is on a promotional tour, wearing nice dresses, flashy coats, bright lipstick, stilettos.

She's not chasing anyone else, she's on her own, and that now includes visiting a fashion show.
