The Khalifa Empowerment Program (Aqdar) of the Ministry of Interior launched a partnership with the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, which specializes in sustainability and environmental solutions in coastal forests, the largest campaign of its kind in the country to plant mangroves on Jubail Island in Abu Dhabi. As part of this initiative, entitled "Fifty Thousand Trees", 500 employees of the TAQA Group will participate in planting 50,000 trees to celebrate the country's golden jubilee.

The mangrove trees will be planted on the island of Jubail, and will cover a huge area equivalent to 21 football fields, and when grown, they will be able to eliminate approximately 615 tons of carbon emissions annually, thus directly contributing to achieving the goals of the UAE related to combating climate change.

The mangrove forest ecosystem provides a home and shelter for many fish and their young, as well as a source of food for various animals, supports biodiversity and is a rich incubator for fish and crustaceans.
