In May, Nent, the company behind Paradise hotel, suspended the current season of the reality series after two female participants reported abuse to the police during the filming.

Since then, another season of the series has been recorded, which should have been broadcast this autumn, but it is also canceled.

Instead, the company is investing in an updated version of the program with a focus on equality and diversity in 2022.

- It is gratifying that the producers listen to the participants.

It is crucial that they feel respect from the production, says Annette Hill who has been researching reality TV since the 90s.

Several participants in Swedish reality series have previously criticized the production behind Paradise hotel, and Annette Hill believes that the audience also does not want to see programs where the participants get sick.

- Those who watch reality TV as dating programs and talent shows are far ahead of the producers.

The target groups for such programs really want to have fun when they watch Paradise hotel but not at the expense of the participants in the program, she says.
