Nature et Avenir has once again opposed a chicken coop located in Saint-Morel (Ardennes).

The association for the defense of the environment has lodged an appeal against the State with the administrative court of Châlons-en-Champagne for faulty deficiency, reports France Bleu Champagne-Ardenne.

She criticizes in particular the absence of a preliminary study on the environmental impact of the project.

The organization has taken legal action several times since the creation in 2019 of this farm of 40,000 hens.

The court had ordered the cessation of activity and the evacuation of the poultry.

The breeder had with each condemnation revised his exploitation downwards to remain within the law.

Risk of nitrate pollution

However, the European framework specifies that location must also be taken into account.

The farm is close to a natural area of ecological, faunal and floristic interest where groundwater is vulnerable to nitrate pollution.

At a nearby fish farm, the levels of nitrogen concentration in the water have increased 20-fold since the hen house was installed.
