“Wudu is forbidden” .. A sign in a famous mall in Egypt raises controversy

A picture of a sign bearing the phrase "ablution is forbidden" in one of the famous Egyptian malls, sparked a wave of criticism and provoked angry reactions on social media, towards the mall.

The pioneers of the communication sites objected to the banner and the prohibition of ablution in the mall bathrooms, stressing that it was "unacceptable intransigence" from the management towards customers and those wishing to perform prayer, and it is not appropriate to put a banner like this in a public place.

For its part, the administration of one of the famous malls, in the Sixth of October City, in Egypt, revealed the details of the controversial banner "Wudu is forbidden", which has spread during the past hours on social media.

And the mall administration said, in a statement: "In response to the spread of the image of the banner prohibiting ablution in the mall's bathrooms, we direct the visitors' attention that it is directed to ensuring public safety, because there are certain places for ablution and prayer."

And the statement continued: "We also confirm the mall's keenness to provide all safe ways for visitors, and accordingly the aforementioned sign was removed, and replaced with a sign clarifying places for ablution," according to Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper.
