“Who sows misery reaps anger” is one of the slogans that could be seen this Thursday morning in front of the Lespinasse oil depot, north of Toulouse.

About fifteen tractors and dozens of farmers from all over the Haute-Garonne department demonstrated to denounce the rise in the price of raw materials, in particular non-road diesel (GNR).

After blocking access, they dumped straw, manure and tires in front of this center which supplies part of Toulouse.

"It's a cry of alarm" explained Nicolas Ates, secretary general of Young Farmers 31, the origin of this mobilization.

“The GNR has gone from 80 cents including tax in March 2021 to 1.15 euros today: this may mean, tomorrow, the end of Haut-Garonne operations, because we are one of the last departments in France in terms of agricultural income," continued the trade unionist.

Farmers consume several thousand liters of GNR each year and they have trouble coping with the successive increases in the price of oil, which is now around the 90 euro mark.

Especially since tires, scrap metal or even nitrogen fertilizers have also increased.
