Three former executives of a drug sales company were arrested for selling the drug substance of a sleep-inducing drug imported from South Korea to a pharmaceutical company for more than 50 million yen, pretending to be manufactured in Japan.

At least 60 million tablets of sleep-inducing agents using this drug substance were distributed at one time, but the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the details of the fact that the drug company had voluntarily collected it last year.

Three people were arrested, including Hajime Funaki (51), a former vice president of Life NP, a drug sales company in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.



According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, there is a suspicion of violating the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Law, saying that 38 drug substances of sleep-inducing agents imported from South Korea were manufactured in Japan and sold to pharmaceutical companies for more than 50 million yen three years ago. It has been.

The sleep-inducing agent "Triazolam" was manufactured using this drug substance, and at least 60 million tablets were temporarily distributed at dispensing pharmacies nationwide. The damage was discovered by reporting to the institution, and last year, the pharmaceutical company voluntarily collected it.



It seems that there is no problem with the ingredients of the drug substance itself, and no health hazard has been confirmed.



The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the details of the situation, assuming that the three people have sold about 100 million yen worth of APIs to the pharmaceutical companies.
