Panic in Egypt due to the escape of a girl infected with AIDS from a shelter

The escape of a homeless and HIV-positive Egyptian girl from a shelter has caused panic in the country.

The Ma’ana Foundation to Save a Human announced the escape of the homeless girl “Liqa”, whose story the Egyptians interacted with and sympathized with during the past days, after her stay in the home for two whole weeks, stressing that the girl escaped even though she was living inside the house a decent life, and a special room was allocated for her. As an isolation to treat her from a dangerous and contagious immune disease.

The foundation also said in a statement, "Unfortunately, the girl Liqa'a was determined to leave the house and return to the street again. Therefore, her family and the Ministry of Solidarity were contacted and informed of the latest developments in the situation and coordination with the rapid intervention team to transfer her to the hospital, but she escaped."

According to the "Al-Arabiya" website, the girl has AIDS, and by reviewing the shelter's cameras, it was found that she jumped from the top of the fences to the outside and disappeared.

The story of the homeless girl dates back to two weeks ago, when Egyptian media published the incident of the 24-year-old girl sleeping on the sidewalk in the Faisal area of Giza, south of Cairo, and her desire to move to a care home, especially since she has no breadwinner after her husband divorced her and expelled her. From home as well as not wanting to return to her father's house.

In turn, the Ministry of Solidarity announced the transfer of the girl to the Ma'ana Foundation to Save a Person, where the Foundation published pictures of the girl's presence in the home after moving and living her life inside.

A few days later, new facts emerged that made the Egyptians lose their sympathy with the girl, as the pioneers of communication published old videos of her dancing in popular areas and giving wedding parties, stressing that she was working as a folk dancer after escaping from her family and practicing this profession under a pseudonym, Mocha.

While these videos did not prevent the Shelter Institution from playing its role with the girl, as I subjected her to some tests and analyzes, and the surprise was discovering that she had AIDS and drug addiction, so the institution began to isolate her in a special room to treat her from the contagious disease in the interest of the rest of the inmates.

It was also found that the administration of the institution tried to reach the girl’s father in order to quickly complete the procedures for transferring her to the psychiatric hospital, because the detention is easy and easy in the case of a first-degree relative, but it ran into the father’s intransigence and lack of cooperation, which contributed to the girl’s escape from the home despite the seriousness of her illness and the possibility of his transmission to others. Through it.
