France Télévision announces the list of 12 songs and 16 artists in the running to represent France at Eurovision 2022. They will be decided by the public and a jury on Saturday March 5 live on France 2, during a program hosted by Stéphane Bern and Laurence Boccolini.

The duo will host the international competition for France as well.

After Valentina's victory at Eurovision junior and Barbara Pravi's very fine second place at Eurovision in 2021, France's candidate for Eurovision 2022 will be expected at the turn.

But his identity is not yet known.

It will be announced live on the evening of Saturday March 5, after a live broadcast where the candidates will be voted on by the public and a jury of artists.

France Télévision reveals who are the candidates selected for this stage of the competition.

Breton group, singer of confinement and protected by Booba

To represent France at Eurovision, France Télévisions received no less than 3,000 applications, and selected twelve songs and sixteen artists from among them.

In detail, this selection consists of ten solo artists, a duo and a quartet.

And this last formation was particularly noticed for its electro-folk song, sung exclusively in Breton.

The group is called Alvan & Ahez.

The title with which its members aim to defend the colors of France is called

Fulenn

.

Which means "spark" in Breton.

Candidate artists include former

The Voice

contestants (including a finalist from last season), an electric harp singer, a sibling duo, a 66-year-old woman who started singing during the confinement, and a little protege of the rapper Booba.

During the evening which will designate the French candidate, it is the viewers who will vote.

A choice which will compose with that of a jury chaired by the singer Jenifer and composed in particular of Joyce Jonathan, Elodie Gossuin and André Manoukian.

This evening will be presented by Stéphane Bern and Laurence Boccolini on Saturday March 5 on France 2. The grand final of the international Eurovision Song Contest will be held on May 10, 2022 in Italy.
