[Explanation] Guangdong Nanling National Nature Reserve is located in Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province. The forest coverage rate here is over 98%. It is an important ecological security barrier in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the nature reserve with the most abundant biological resources in Guangdong Province. and the largest gene pool of biological species.

"Post-95" youth Zhang Chongwan and his partner Zhou Zhipeng walk through this vast forest every day. They are both forest rangers, infrared camera technicians, and real "animal detectives".

The footprints here are very light, and they may look like ocelots, which are walking here and there.

I have been working here for more than half a year, and I have lost a dozen or twenty pounds.

[Explanation] Animal footprints appeared on an inconspicuous sand pile beside the river, and a small piece of feces not far away was the "key evidence" that could be used to preliminarily determine what kind of animal was infested, the two "" Detective" discussed it for a long time.

Interestingly, on another tree trunk, they also found a fresh "criminal scene".

There may be worms in it, living and breeding in it, but some animals will smash these dead woods and grab insects from them to eat, like some omnivorous animals.

We chose the place to place the infrared camera, and we took a look. There is a passage for animals, and there is a high probability that it will pass through here, and then we can take pictures of what animals pass through here.

[Explanation] Following their footsteps up the mountain and down the river, the plants and landforms that are indistinguishable in the eyes of outsiders have subtle and clear differences in the eyes of the two young people.

They can not only discern all kinds of clues, but also use science and technology to "wait for the rabbit".

In fact, the probability of infrared cameras is still quite difficult. We put them on our own and collect them for 3 months. There is nothing at all, and sometimes leaves are blown by the wind.

We went to deploy one last month, and then we took a look. When we photographed something, we saw a few white pheasants. We were very excited.

[Explanation] In the past few years, infrared cameras have photographed a variety of national-level protected animals in Nanling. These pictures are also the best evidence for the healthy development of this ecological security barrier in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In his spare time, Zhou Zhipeng also took a camera and photographed 113 species of birds in two years.

My grandfather's generation used to cut wood, and my father's generation started to plant fir trees. They planted these fir trees before, and then in our generation, they protected the forest and began to slowly watch these trees grow up. , there is a desire to protect it.

[Explanation] From logging, to tree planting, to forest protection, the family of Zhang Chongwan and Zhou Zhipeng participated in the historical development of this rolling mountain with the footprints of three generations, and also showed the changing relationship between man and nature.

I grew up in the mountains, and I also yearn for life in the city. I also went out for a few years and saw those high-rise buildings, and then when I came back here during the Chinese New Year and walked into the mountains , I was really grasped by this environment. Why didn’t I find such a good place when I was a child? Thinking of going outside.

This is where I should protect.
