Disclosure of the name and nationality of a resident who harassed and threatened an employee in Riyadh

A Saudi court sentenced a 10-month prison sentence, a fine of 30,000 riyals, and defamation of an Arab resident, after he was convicted of sexually harassing a female employee at the workplace in Riyadh and threatening her with death.

The employee resorted to the court, which decided to defame him by publishing a summary of the final verdict of conviction at his expense in two local newspapers.

The Criminal Department of the Criminal Court in Riyadh had considered the case filed by the plaintiff, the Public Prosecution Department in central Riyadh, against the defendant, an Arab national, and his conviction of verbal sexual harassment of the complainant in the workplace, over which he had direct authority, and threatening her with death, by placing a slip of paper in it. The court decided to reprimand the defendant in return for what he was convicted of, by imprisoning him for 10 months, of which he spent 3 months, and a fine of 30,000 riyals, deposited in the state’s public treasury, for the work of the second paragraph of Article VI of the anti-harassment crime system, and the rest of the sentence estimated at seven months for her threat to kill. The period of his imprisonment shall start from the date of his arrest due to the case, and the summary of the final conviction judgment shall be published at the expense of the convict in two local newspapers.

An advertisement in the Saudi newspaper, "Al-Riyadh", showed the name and nationality of the Arab resident.

According to the newspaper, the accused Arab resident is of Jordanian nationality, called "Aladdin Mashhour Mahmoud Ismail."
