The wind is picking up in Germany: The German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach has issued a severe weather warning for Wednesday to Thursday evening, mainly for the northern half.

"It starts in the northwest and then moves southeast to about the middle of Germany," explained meteorologist Adrian Lyser.

Hurricane gusts with a speed of up to 120 kilometers per hour are possible.

From Thursday afternoon the wind will slowly decrease, but the breather is only short.

The next hurricane low is expected for Friday afternoon.

According to the DWD, this will probably again affect the northern half in particular.

Due to severe weather warnings for North Rhine-Westphalia, a nationwide lesson was ordered for Thursday.

This was announced by School Minister Yvonne Gebauer (FDP) on Wednesday in the Düsseldorf state parliament.

Family Minister Joachim Stamp (FDP) appealed to all parents to look after their children at home on Thursday instead of sending them to daycare or day care.

In Hesse, too, there will be thunderstorms, gusts of wind and hurricane gusts in the next few days.

In addition, with mild temperatures of up to 14 degrees, a lot of rain is expected, as reported by the German Weather Service (DWD).

Wednesday should therefore be stormy and rainy during the day, with maximum temperatures of up to 13 degrees.

In the night there is a warning of a heavy storm, in the mountains of a hurricane.

According to the DWD, thunderstorms can also occur in the north and east.

Thursday will also be stormy in Hesse, especially in the north, with sometimes hurricane-like gusts.

During the day, the rain subsides with temperatures between 10 and 14 degrees.

Towards evening, the wind coming from the west should decrease, the DWD reports.

Friday will be cloudy and rainy with temperatures between 10 and 14 degrees.

In the course of the day there will be gusts of wind again, in the mountains hurricane gusts are also possible.
