(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) This round of Suzhou epidemic is a variant of Omicron and has nothing to do with the previous "2.10 cases"

China News Service, Suzhou, February 16 (Zhong Sheng and Zhou Jianlin) On the afternoon of the 16th, Suzhou City held the third "2.13" New Coronary Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Press Conference.

Zhang Jun, deputy director and chief physician of the Suzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said at the meeting that after the outbreak of the current round of the epidemic, the new coronavirus samples from the relevant confirmed cases were sequenced by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Mikron variant (BA.1 clade).

After comparison, the genome homology between the virus samples of this round of epidemic and an asymptomatic infection of new coronary pneumonia reported in Suzhou on February 10 is two independent events.

At the same time, by comparing with the database of domestic native cases and imported cases, no highly homologous genome sequence was found, which may be a new unknown source of disease.

On February 10, a company in Suzhou found that one person was positive in the initial screening test during the routine nucleic acid test for the new coronavirus. After review by the Suzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the result was positive, and it was immediately transferred to a designated hospital in Suzhou for isolation and medical observation.

After consultation with municipal experts, it was diagnosed as asymptomatic infection of new coronary pneumonia.

The asymptomatic infected person (female, 38 years old) is a staff member of an enterprise, engaged in the delivery and reception of warehouse imported materials (imported non-cold chain goods).

As a person in a key position, he has undergone routine nucleic acid tests as required, and the test results before February 7 were all negative.

On February 9, samples were taken for inspection, and in the early morning of February 10, the initial screening test was positive.
