Before the trial, Jiang Ge's mother Jiang Qiulian stated on her personal Weibo that she would not appear in court for physical reasons.

  Jiang Qiulian said on her personal Weibo: "Due to physical reasons, I will not appear in court today for the trial, and lawyers Huang Leping and Li Jing are fully represented."

  On October 15, 2018, Jiang Qiulian stated that he would initiate legal proceedings against Liu Nuanxi, and the case will be publicly heard in Qingdao on April 15, 2021.

On January 10, 2022, the People's Court of Chengyang District, Qingdao City made a first-instance judgment on the dispute over the right of life between the plaintiff Jiang Qiulian and the defendant Liu Nuanxi. The defendant Liu Nuanxi paid a total of 696,000 yuan, and Liu Nuanxi then appealed.
