Q. After returning home from Beijing…

How have you been?

[Nam-gyu Lim/Luge National Team: Once I arrived in Korea on a Sunday, I was quarantined for a day, and after coming home, I ate home-cooked food and rested for two days.

Q. How do you feel about participating in the Beijing Winter Olympics?

[Lim Nam-gyu/Luge National Team: As many of you may have heard, it was difficult, but it was such an honor to be able to play like a miracle and finish the game with satisfaction.]

Q. Was this the last Olympics as an active player?

[Lim Nam-gyu/Luge National Team: Yes, I think it will be.]

Q. Returning after retirement…

Any chance of participating again?

[Lim Nam-gyu/Luge National Team: If you call me, I have to do something, but I think that young athletes will be preparing for the next Olympics.]

Q. Fighting an injury to participate in the Olympics…

where is the driving force?

[Lim Nam-gyu/Luge National Team: First of all, it was my second Olympics, and I also wanted to finish it myself properly, and there were a lot of people who supported me.

My family, my mother, my brother and my girlfriend, many people from the Luge Federation helped me, coaches, medical teachers, and teammates.

I want to say thank you once again because it seems like it was possible because so many people helped.]

Q. The question of whether I can participate in the operating table…

were you desperate?

[Nam-gyu Lim/Luge National Team: At that time, the teacher always spoke positively to me, but when I asked that question, he did not answer easily. So I came to Korea and I think I prepared again that way.]

Q. Cheers after passing the finish line...

How did you feel?

[Lim Nam-gyu / Luge National Team: It was too easy.

It's really over.

Also, when I came out with a sled at the finish, I told the coach and medical school that it was like a dream again, but while I was preparing, I had injuries and some trauma left, so my condition was not 100%, so it was the first game again. It wasn't that good until now.

So, by the way, I did well in the 2nd round, and I was really proud and happy that I was able to finish the 3rd with a personal best.]

Q. What does the heart ceremony mean?

[Nam-gyu Lim / National Luge Representative: I was with my mother and her girlfriend (to) who supported me.

]

Q. I started luge at the age of 26…

What motivated you to start?

[Lim Nam-gyu / Luge National Team: It's a very late age.

Actually, I was in college because I left the military a little late.

At that time, my college classmates participated in the Sochi Olympics.

That's when I first got to know Luge and saw Luge again.

After the Olympics, there was a qualifying contest, and I wanted to feel the heat of the Taereung Athlete's Village, and actually I thought that it would not be possible because I was old at that time, actually.

So I went to a test and a selection match. At that time, there was no stadium, so I made a selection based on physical strength, but there I also got 1st place.

I was elected, but at first, there was a lot of opposition.

Because it's so unfamiliar.

Because I was concerned about the vision and the financial aspect, and I was not young.

But then, I persuaded my mother to go to the Olympics, and after that, she gave me a lot of support.]

Q. What is the charm of 'luge' among the three sledding events?

[Nam-gyu Lim / National Luge Team: Actually, all three sled events are fast, but luge is chosen as the fastest event.

as an official record.

Because it boasts the best speed, it may be considered dangerous because it has suffered a lot of injuries, but the fact that the sled and I become one with the sled and finish the difficult track one by one while catching the track is a very attractive game in itself I think you should think about it.]

Q. Do you have any goals you would like to achieve in the future?

[Lim Nam-gyu/Luge National Team: I want to make the luge a sport that gets more attention like it is now, and that young players can take on a lot of challenges.

Also, it is my small dream to see my juniors win medals again in the distant future, and I also want to become a senior who can help me a lot.

Also, as a personal wish, I think that through this Olympics, many people have recognized the process rather than the result.

I have a little desire to live a life where I can applaud myself, wherever I am, and whoever knows it or not.]
