For several weeks, Le Compte wood, located in the municipalities of Nanteuil-lès-Meaux, Boutigny and Fublaines, has been closed to the public due to the detection of sinkholes (ground collapses).

But the elected officials of these three cities of Seine-et-Marne are worried about the proliferation of wild boars in the sector.

Without human presence and the ban on hunting, suids reproduce at high speed and cause a lot of damage, reports La Marne on Tuesday.

A beat, and after?

Incursion into the gardens of local residents, devastated farmers' fields, irruption on the roads... the wild boar population must be regulated, according to the mayors.

Thus, a beat was decided, in agreement with the department of Seine-et-Marne and the Federation of hunting.

It remains to determine a date and above all a strategy to avoid endangering hunters on dangerous ground.

But for the elected officials, this beat is only a reprieve.

It is urgent, according to them, to allow hunting in the woods again.
