More than 660 couples got married in a mass wedding on Valentine's Day in Mexico City.

According to the municipal secretary of the Ciudad Nezahualcoyotl district in the east of the Mexican capital, María Darinka Rendón, the ceremony was "an emotional event for the participants, for the families and also for us who are here to bear witness".

The oldest yes-men were 74-year-old Francisco Calvo and 67-year-old Rosalba Silva.

The two widowers met five years ago and decided to marry last year.

"I thought there was no more opportunity for me, but love has come," Rosalba said.

The mass ceremony has been organized by the city government every year since 2013.

In previous years more than 1000 couples took part in the mass event.

While sacrificing intimacy and individuality, couples receive some benefits in return.

For example, their marriage certificate is issued free of charge.
