A total of 422,000 people were affected by various natural disasters, 1 person died due to the disaster, and the direct economic loss was 3.74 billion yuan, down 83%, 91% and 7% respectively compared with the average of the same period in the past five years.

  Shen Zhanli, spokesperson of the Ministry of Emergency Management of China and director of the Information and Publicity Department, said that in January this year, low temperature, rain, snow and freezing affected the central and eastern regions twice, but the disaster losses were relatively minor.

The seismic activity was relatively strong, with 5 earthquakes of magnitude 5 or above occurred in mainland China, including 1 earthquake of magnitude 6.0 to 6.9, and 4 earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 to 5.9.

Parts of southern China experienced continuous droughts in winter and spring, and local droughts occurred in Guangdong, Fujian, Yunnan, and Guangxi.

Sporadic wind and hail disasters occurred locally in Guizhou and Yunnan, causing damage to some cash crops.

  "Recently, there are still large-scale low-temperature rain and snow weather in some areas in the north, and the forest fire danger level will continue to rise, various risks and hidden dangers will be superimposed, and the security situation will be severe and complicated." Shen Zhanli said that it is necessary to continue to strengthen risk awareness, comprehensively investigate and rectify various types of Risks and hidden dangers, resolutely prevent and contain major accidents, and ensure that the safety of people's lives is the first priority.
