Spanish village that disappeared 30 years ago reappears

According to press reports in Spain, a forgotten small town has reappeared, after its disappearance for more than 30 years, and has remained submerged over the past years, only to reappear suddenly after the level of the water basin that was submerging it decreased.

And "Sky News Arabia" quoted the "Daily Star" newspaper, that the village of "Aceredo" located in the Galician region, was flooded in 1992 in order to establish a water basin in the region.

Since the carrying capacity of the water basin has decreased to about 15% only, during the recent times, the village has returned to become visible.

Tourists, and those who used to live in the area, flocked to the place eagerly to see what the village had become after decades of invisibility, amid a state of nostalgia and heartbreak.

The town seemed to preserve some houses and existing walls, as well as old dilapidated cars, although it was flooded for 30 years.

After coming to the place, one of the visitors, Maximino Romero, said, "It's like I'm watching a movie, it's sad."

He added that what happened in this water basin will likely be repeated in the coming years, due to the consequences of climate change.

Maria del Carmen Yáñez, an official in the area's municipality, said that this drought was mainly caused by poor rainfall.
