A man who threatened police officers with a knife at Paris' Gare du Nord has died after police shots.

Two officers used their service weapons when the man approached them with the knife, police sources said on Monday morning.

The man is dead, the police officers are unharmed.

The blade of the knife was about 30 centimeters long.

France's Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin previously announced on Twitter that the incident happened around 7 a.m.

The officers would have used the weapon and thus "averted the danger to themselves and the travelers".
