A herd of sheep was decimated this weekend in Clérieux (Drôme).

Their breeder made the macabre discovery on his farm on Saturday morning: in total, three ewes and four lambs were victims of an attack.

An expertise is underway to determine if the carnage is the work of the wolf, reports

Because in recent weeks, several incidents have been noted in the department.

On the night of February 8 to 9, a herd of 25 ewes and rams was attacked in Réauville and only four animals were not injured.

Eleven are dead and three are missing.

A mare belonging to the mayor of Montclar-sur-Gervanne also perished at the beginning of the month, as did 15 sheep in Aouste-sur-Sye.

On Friday, the president of the Sheep Federation of Drôme reminded our colleagues that 51 animals have been fatally attacked by wolves since the start of the year, compared to six over the same period last year.
