The Victoires de la Musique deliver their verdict on Friday evening, live from the musical Seine and on France 2. If each category is interesting, the ceremony traditionally ends with the presentation of the most awaited Victory, and the one also which is open to public votes, Song of the Year.

In this year 2021 still very marked by the pandemic and the cancellations of concerts, we really needed chic, cheerful and catchy songs to make us forget our daily life (or sublimate it).

Brussels, disco or petrol?

Throughout the week, the

20 Minutes

Music service has detailed the qualities of the five songs in the running for Victory.

Back on our strong arguments before asking you what is your song of the year.

Which figure in this list or not.

  • Orelsan's manifesto,

    The Smell of Gasoline

Because it's a song without a chorus, an acid criticism of our society and a disillusioned and alarmist look at the world around us.

These 4 minutes 44 from Orelsan put words to a general fed up and resonate like a manifesto.

Culture

Why "The Smell of Gasoline" by Orelsan will be the song of the year

  • Clara Luciani's loose hair,

    breathe again

Because it made us hope for the return of the bamboche and dance with twirling hair in our living rooms under curfew.

Because it captures the spirit of the times and is a spontaneous, natural inspiration, an evidence that has already marked our era, giving it a new lease of life.

Culture

Why "Respire encore" by Clara Luciani will be the song of the year

  • The collapse of Juliette Armanet,

    The Last Day of Disco

Because it's a disco anthem whose lyrics you don't quite understand, because it's a desperate love song.

Because it makes us feel more alive than ever, playing our life on the

dancefloor.

Because Juliet.

  • The naivety of Fire!

    Chatterton,

    New World

Because it's a prophetic song written before the pandemic.

Because she almost didn't see the light of day.

Because it talks about beauty, love, friendship and it also tells the way of doing things of a group that deserves to be recognized at its fair value.

Culture

Why "New World" of Fire!

Chatterton will be the song of the year

  • Angèle's love,

    Brussels I love you

Because we all need a Thalys Frequent Traveler subscription, because Brussels is beautiful, because the Song of the Year is still supposed to be a hit, a real one.

Because it makes us dance and whistle.

Culture

Why "Bruxelles je t'aime" by Angèle will be the song of the year
