Recently, in Shimian County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, infrared cameras captured 5 species of national first-class protected animals, including giant panda, forest musk deer, Asian golden cat, yellow-throated pheasant, and green-tailed rainbow pheasant; national second-class key protected animals 22 species, including macaque, sambar, Chinese serow, red fox, wolf, white horse chicken, etc.

  The infrared camera monitoring project of Sichuan Liziping National Nature Reserve started in 2009 and achieved global coverage in 2018. A total of 480 infrared cameras were placed.
