• The "freedom convoy", the rally inspired by the movement initiated in Canada, passed through Toulouse on Thursday before reaching the capital, then Brussels on February 14.

  • More than 400 people gathered in the parking lot of Sesquières, in Toulouse, to denounce the vaccination pass and the rise in the cost of living.

They had agreed to meet in a parking lot in Sesquières, north of Toulouse, to board the "freedom convoy" bound for Paris.

Some came from Ariège, Tarn, others from much further away with their motorhome.

Like this couple from Charente-Maritime who was already in Perpignan the day before, and was among the more than 400 demonstrators this Thursday morning.

This retired taxi driver and his wife are both opposed to the vaccination pass.

But if they are there, it is also to "denounce the rise in the cost of living", as they had already done in November 2018, when they joined the movement of "yellow vests".

Today, like yesterday, they are determined to make themselves heard by the government, and if necessary, they will push as far as Brussels.

To reach the capital, they are ready to return incognito.

“Forbidding us to enter Paris is intimidation, as usual.

But we will find a way to get there, without violence, ”says the former taxi driver.

“It is the people of France who are there”

Jean-Jacques, alias JJB, a well-known figure of the Toulouse "yellow vests", will only make the trip to Montauban.

"A short stretch of road" for the one who, week after week, inexorably denounces the policy of Emmanuel Macron "for whom there are people from above, and the others".

In the middle of a group of demonstrators, a familiar face stands out.

That of the former presenter of France Télévisions, Richard Boutry.

Having become the spearhead of the anti-pass, through his column “La Minute Ricardo”, the latter welcomes “the good atmosphere” on this “freedom convoy”.

“There is a mix of people from all social classes.

It's the people of France who are there, and they don't hear it.

Behind the pass, there is a struggle for all freedoms, ”he says.

And for the latter, there is no question of stopping at the gates of Paris.

“We are not going to comply forever with their injunctions, we have obeyed enough as it is.

We don't want to do it through violence, but through numbers, ”he concludes.
