The Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority (Arcom) examined the speaking times of political figures in news papers and magazines for the period of the fourth quarter of 2021. It points to shortcomings on the side of C8 and France Culture.

The audiovisual policeman warns.

The Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority (Arcom) indicates that C8 has overexposed the Reconquest party of presidential candidate Eric Zemmour.

Following an examination of the speaking times of political figures in news papers and magazines for the period of the fourth quarter of the year 2021, Arcom thus asked the managers of the C8 channel to ensure better application of the principle of pluralism.

This warning comes a week after the observations of Claire Sécail, researcher at the CNRS.

His study revealed that the program

Touche pas à mon poste

had devoted 44.7% of its air time to the political movement of the far-right candidate for the period from September to December last.

Figures disputed by Cyril Hanouna last week on his show.

France Culture and CNews also out of the spotlight

The host thus assured that Anne Hidalgo and Christiane Taubira had declined his invitation.

He also said that new debates with Valérie Pécresse, Yannick Jadot and Fabien Roussel would soon take place on his set.

But C8 is not the only channel warned by Arcom about the speaking time given to candidates.

France Culture would have overrepresented the Socialist Party on its antenna, according to the regulator.

Arcom also found that the distribution of political speaking time was marked on CNews by the underexposure of the National Rally.
