Of those infected with the new corona last month in Tokyo, the percentage of those who participated in social gatherings with drinking during the 14 days immediately before the onset was about 2.6 times that of August last year in the 5th wave. A questionnaire survey conducted by the city revealed that the number has increased significantly.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government conducted a questionnaire survey of 13,988 people who were newly confirmed to be infected in Tokyo during the last month and are receiving medical treatment at accommodation facilities or at home.

As a result, 3352 people answered that they participated in a social gathering with drinking alcohol during the 14 days immediately before the onset of the disease, or that they ate and drank for a long time with a large number of people.

The capital has conducted the same survey on a regular basis last year, but the number of people in the fifth wave last August was 1272, and last month it increased significantly to about 2.6 times that of last August.

Of the 3352 people last month, the largest generation was in their twenties, accounting for more than 40% of the total, at 1396, suggesting that the younger generation is more likely to behave at high risk of infection.
