In a stone-built classroom in rural Kenya's Rift Valley, Priscilla Setini, who turns 99 tomorrow (Friday), sat down to take notes alongside students 80 years younger than her.

She wore the school uniform of a gray dress and a green jacket, and said she wanted to go back to school to set an example for her grandchildren and seek a new career.

"I want to become a doctor because I was a midwife," she told Reuters.

The Kenyan government began subsidizing primary education costs in 2003, which has allowed some of the older people who had dropped out to go back to school to pursue their dreams.

This has brought some older students back to school, including Citini, who traveled to Paris last year to shoot a film about her story called "Jojo".
